Agnes S. Ernst, 93, of Mishawaka, passed away Monday afternoon, September 25, 2017, in Aurora, Illinois, at the home of her daughter where she lived in recent years.

Agnes was born August 24, 1924 in Mishawaka, a daughter of the late Camiel and Sedonie (Biesbrouck) Bokhart. She grew up in Mishawaka and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in South Bend.

Agnes married Donald W. Ernst on October 19, 1946 in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka. The couple made Mishawaka their home where they raised their family.

Agnes was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking. Her faith was an important part of her life and she was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church. Anges and Don enjoyed traveling and camping; especially to the Smoky Mountains and Lake Leelanau in northern Michigan.

Most of all, Agnes’ family was the center of her life. Spending time together brought her great joy.

Agnes’ surviving family includes her three children, Stephen P. Ernst of South Bend, David M. (Kathryn) Ernst of Mishawaka and Susan M. Noppen of Aurora, IL; three grandchildren, Mathew (Sandra) Ernst, Nicole (Andrew) Buss and Kristine (Ben) Smith; and six great grandchildren.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Don; a son-in-law, John Noppen; and two sisters, Mary Bokhart and Henrietta Fox.

Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Friday, September 29, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, 502 West Seventh Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Peter Pacini, CSC, officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. There is no public visitation.

Arrangements are under the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
