Angela C. Bliha, 82, of Mishawaka, passed away Friday afternoon, September 25, 2015, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Angela was born on Easter Sunday, April 16, 1933, in Mishawaka, a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Theresa K. (Hums) Ernst. She grew up in Mishawaka and was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, South Bend.
On September 12, 1959 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, Angela married George Bliha. The couple made Mishawaka their home.
Angela’s employment included the Mishawaka Credit Bureau and Bendix Aviation Corporation. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and had a special devotion to St. Joseph and daily prayed the Rosary.
Angela enjoyed baking, cooking and reading. She spent many hours lovingly tending her large vegetable garden from which she did considerable canning. She was an avid Notre Dame Football and Basketball fan. Angela enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends. She had a special Euchre card playing bond with her late brother Bob.
Angela’s family was the center of her life and she loved family get-togethers. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, attending their many sports activities over the years. She had a special fondness for and dearly loved her two grandchildren.
Angela’s surviving family includes her husband of 56 years, George; two sons, Joseph (Jacque) Bliha of Crown Point and Richard “Rick†(Karen) Bliha of Niles; a daughter, Marie Bliha of Granger; two grandchildren, Tyler and Madeline Bliha; a brother, J. Anthony “Tony†(Carol) Ernst; three sisters, Joan Larson, Louise Collins and Helen (Chris) Krestel; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Angela was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Bob†Ernst; and two sisters, Mary Cortier and Dorothy Gulde.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 30, at 10 am in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka, with Rev. John Eze officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Friends may spend time with Angela’s family Tuesday, September 29, from 4 - 7 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, where a prayer service will be held at 7 pm. Visitation is also Wednesday from 9 - 10 am in the church.
