Ann M. Schindler, 87, of Newark, Delaware and formerly of Mishawaka, passed away Monday morning, September 23, 2013.
Ann was born August 26, 1926 in Jersey City, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Luke and Catherine (Hoffman) O’Malley. She spent much of her childhood in Rutherford, New Jersey. Ann lived and worked in Tucson, Arizona before moving to Mishawaka. Following the death of her husband she resided in Florida and Delaware.
Ann was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. She volunteered with Hospice and at St. Margaret’s House in South Bend.
Ann married John W. Schindler, Jr., in 1962. He was an attorney in Mishawaka. He preceded Ann in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert O’Malley; and sisters, Kathleen O’Brien, Elizabeth Keating and Virginia Hardiman.
Ann’s surviving family includes her daughters, Mary Ann Schindler of Newark, Delaware and Martha (Don) Connors of Evergreen, Colorado; a grandson, Aidan Schindler Fordyce; two step granddaughters, Caitlin and Emily Connors; a brother, Rev. William O’Malley; and a sister, Joan Otto.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 27, at 10 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Ann’s brother, Rev. William O’Malley officiating. (Everyone please meet at church on Friday). Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka.
Friends may spend time with Ann’s family Thursday from 5 - 7 pm Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.
