Betty Sue Roe, 83, of South Bend, passed away Saturday morning, September 24, 2016, in Beardsley House, Elkhart.
Betty was born September 14, 1933 in Wayne County, Tennessee, to the late Alvin Willie and Ruby Inez (Montgomery) Berry. She has lived in Indiana for many years.
Betty was a homemaker. She loved country cooking and feeding family and friends. Betty was loved because of the giving person she was. She loved her children and the simple joys of life.
Betty’s surviving family includes five children, Billy Ace Martin (Barbara) of Elkhart, Margo Sue Shoemaker (Elmer) of Union, Michigan, Bobby Pal Martin of Elkhart, Johnny Bud Martin (Leslie) of Osceola and Tonja Ann Martin of Union; four grandchildren, Joda Miller, Billy Shoemaker, Veronica McCreary and Colt Martin; several great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Tom Berry (Nancy) of Mishawaka.
Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel McKinney; and a grandson, JJ Shoemaker.
Services honoring Betty’s life will be held Wednesday, September 28, at 2pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Cremation will follow with entombment in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may spend time with Betty’s family Wednesday from 12 noon - 2 pm in the funeral home.
