Darlene Ann Boyer, 62, of Lakeville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2015 in her home.
Darlene was born March 25, 1953 in South Bend, a daughter of Lawrence and Eva “Grace†(Galloway) Kiefer. She grew up in Niles and was a graduate of Brandywine High School.
On October 31, 1971, Darlene married Earl M. Boyer, Jr. They lived in Granger, Mishawaka and most recently in Lakeville.
Darlene was employed for nearly 30 years at Burcliff Industries and for 9 years at Nyloncraft. In her earlier years she was active in her church and supervised the nursery. Darlene enjoyed painting, especially ceramics and on canvas. Her favorite color was purple. Darlene was an avid reader and loved collecting things, particularly Gone With The Wind memorabilia. She enjoyed car rides with her husband Earl.
Darlene’s family was the center of her life. She was especially fond of her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 44 years, Earl; two children, Earl M. Boyer, III of Wyatt and Jennifer A. (Darren) Remenih of South Bend; her mother, Eva “Grace†Kiefer of Niles; two brothers, Larry (Erma) Kiefer of Niles and Randy (Natalie) Kiefer of South Bend; three sisters, Connie (Bill) Taube of Niles, Laura Childress of Baldwin, Michigan and Melodie (Wes) Ream of Teegarden; five grandchildren, Dilan, Kiersten, Gabriella, Cameron and Olivia Remenih; beloved Aunt Erma of Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Kiefer.
Services honoring Darlene’s life will be held Thursday, November 19, at 10:30 am in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery.
Friends may spend time with Darlene’s family Wednesday, November 18, from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm and Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 am in the funeral home.
