David L. Engesveen, 60, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, at home of natural causes.
Dave was born February 2, 1956 in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Houston, Chicago and the country of Norway. On November 18, 1988 he married Bernice Wedding and they made their home in South Bend.
Dave was a welder by trade. In recent years he was employed in the Power House Division at Koontz Wagner where he was a lead foreman.
Dave loved music. Over the years, he played the guitar in several bands. His favorite music style was southern rock. Dave was very artistic and enjoyed metal work. He also loved his dogs and was a huge Texas Longhorns fan.
Dave’s surviving family includes his wife, Bernice “Bernieâ€; a son, Derik (Jessica) Engesveen of Texas; three daughters, Kimberley Spradley of Texas, Sarah (Chris) Peffley of Mishawaka and Angela Cady of Granger; seven grandchildren, Valerie, Maverick, Jaylynn, Tyler, Jarrett, Noah and Ethan; his step father, Bjorn Soyland of Florida; three brothers, Chandler Wendell of Texas, Erling Soyland of Florida and David Soyland of Florida; and a sister, Tina “Kris†(Rob) Crecelius of Florida.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Sadie; and a brother, Barrett Wendell.
Services honoring Dave’s life will be held Thursday, April 28, at 12 noon in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Pastor Bob Vale leading the service. Cremation will follow.
Friends may spend time with Dave’s family Thursday from 10 am to 12 noon in the funeral home.
