Dennis George Seymour, 71, of Osceola, passed away early Friday morning, July 24, 2015, in Elkhart Hospice House.

Dennis was born December 3, 1943 in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of the late Dennis “Jim” and Emma (Riebesell) Seymour. He grew up in Hudson County, New Jersey, and was a graduate of Dickinson High School.

On July 24, 1965, Dennis married Ruby E. Schnitzer. The couple moved permanently to the Michiana area in 2005. Dennis passed away on their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Dennis was blessed with a great skill in working with machinery. His employment included the Kahle Engineering Corporation from 1965 to 1982, Richards Manufacturing from 1982 to 1992, and Electronic Technology Incorporated from 1992 to 2004 where he was vice president at the time of his retirement.

In New Jersey, Dennis was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and in Mishawaka he was a member of First English Lutheran Church. Dennis and Ruby enjoyed traveling. He particularly liked model trains. Dennis loved fixing things and working on machines.

Dennis’ surviving family includes his wife of 50 years, Ruby; a daughter, Wendy (Donald) McKee of Kingsley, Michigan; a son, Douglas (Karen) Seymour of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four grandchildren, William, Hunter and Matthew Seymour, and Jason “J.D.” (Casey) McKee; a great granddaughter, Lillyana McKee; another great granddaughter to be born soon, Addison Rose McKee; and a sister, Dorine Brokus.

Dennis was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Roy Seymour; and a grandson, Donald Edward McKee III.

Services honoring Dennis’ life and faith will be held Monday, July 27, at 10 am in First English Lutheran Church, 16495 Ireland Road, Mishawaka, with Pastor Jeff Zell and Pastor Len Jepson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 26, from 3 - 5 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, and Monday from 9 - 10 am in the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Assistance with memorials is available through the funeral home.
