Dennis Michael Sizemore, Sr.

Dennis Michael Sizemore, Sr., 71, of Mishawaka, passed away at home on Monday, August 9, 2021.

Dennis was born November 19, 1949 in Mishawaka to the late Al and Nora (Mickels) Sizemore. He grew up in Mishawaka and was a graduate of Mishawaka High School. He attended IUSB. Dennis served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was injured while serving and earned a Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 star and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Dennis was employed for many years at Uniroyal. He retired from Laborers International Union Local #645. Dennis was a member of American Legion #284 in South Bend, VFW #360 in Mishawaka and Disabled American Veterans. He liked golfing, fishing, motorcycle riding but particularly enjoyed his grandchildren and his Bouvier dogs.

Dennis married Linda A. DeCloedt on August 2, 1969 and she survives. Also surviving are three sons and their families, Dennis M. Sizemore, Jr. and his children, Paige, Taylor and Payton; Daniel J. (Jill) Sizemore and their children, Jack and Joe; and David J. (Stephanie) Sizemore and their children, Moriah, Nathan, Kathleen and Sophia; his one and only great grandchild, Ryane Ray; three brothers, Donald Sizemore, Daniel (Robin) Sizemore and Duane Sizemore; two sisters, Dorothy (Ed) Mroczek and Dawn Sizemore; a sister-in-law, Elaine Sizemore; his mother-in-law, Mary Ann DeCloedt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dennis was preceded in death by a brother, David A. Sizemore; and his father-in-law, Ray DeCloedt.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, August 14, in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, with Rev. Jacob Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery with military honors by Joint Post Honor Guard American Legion 284/VFW 9820.

Visitation is from 5 – 8 pm Friday in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, and also from 11 am – 12 noon Saturday in church.
