Donald D. White

Donald D. White, age 91 of Granger, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022.  Don was born June 11, 1931, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Howard H. and Bernice K. (Stahowiak) White.  Following his graduation from Mishawaka High School in 1949, Don enlisted in the US Navy where he served honorably during the Korean War. On January 23, 1954, Don married Phyllis Corle in South Bend, Indiana.  They recently celebrated 68 years of marriage.

Don is survived by his wife Phyllis of Granger and his children Ronald D. (Janice) White of South Bend and Cynthia Becker of Bolingbrook, Illinois. Surviving as well are his grandchildren Kyle A. White, Samantha White and Sara White.

A private service will be held at Goethals and Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.

Don was employed as a Master Plumber and owned Donald D. White Plumbing and Heating in Mishawaka.  His skill, honesty and integrity allowed him to serve his clients in the community until his retirement in the mid-1990’s. Following his retirement, Don worked as the head of maintenance at St. Joseph High School. He was also very handy and was able to fix anything and everything.

In his spare time, Don enjoyed fishing, visiting casinos throughout the area and traveling the world with his wife. Don and Phyllis set foot on six of the seven continents in the world, and they especially loved the time they spent in Alaska.

Most of all, Don was a devoted husband, father, and “Papa” to his grandchildren.  He adored his wife and children and was always present to support his grandkids at their games and events.
