Donna Marie White, 85, of Mishawaka, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2014, in her home.
Donna was born April 7, 1929 in Star City, Indiana, a daughter of the late Leo and Marie (Kursch) Weisenburger. She grew up in the Winamac area. She graduated from Beauty School in Mishawaka.
Donna married Lee White on November 12, 1956 in Roseland. They spent most of their married years in Mishawaka.
Donna was employed for over 30 years at Bendix (Honeywell) and retired in 1982. She attended St. Bavo Catholic Church in Mishawaka and was a member of UAW Local #9. Donna was a NASCAR fan and her favorite driver was #24 Jeff Gordon. She also enjoyed playing bingo and going to Michigan City to the Boat. Donna was a great cook and baker and at one time liked crocheting and vegetable and flower gardening. Her family was an important part of her life.
Donna’s surviving family includes her daughter, Denese (Steve) Thornburg of Osceola; two sisters, Dorothy Callahan and Betty Colgrove both of Winamac; two grandchildren, Jessica Lee McRoberts and Ryan McRoberts; one great grandson, Mason Blatz and another great grandchild is on the way; and also many nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Lee White, Jr.; a son, Jody Lee White; three sisters, Marjorie Mitchell, Virginia Worsham and Jean Moore; and three brothers, Arden “Bud†Weisenburger, Richard Weisenburger and Bobby Weisenburger.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 29, at 10:30 am in St. Bavo Catholic Church, (corner of W. 7th Street and West Street), Mishawaka, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Friends may spend time with Donna’s family Wednesday from 1 - 3 pm and 6 - 8 pm and Thursday from 9 - 10 am in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.
