Frank J. Michels, 82, of Mishawaka, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 2, 2011, in his home.
Frank was born October 5, 1928 in Mishawaka, a son of the late Gerald and Marian (Dubala) Michels. He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School. He served his country in the US Navy from 1946 - 1949.
Frank was employed for many years at Westinghouse. He was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church and VFW Post #360. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and mushroom hunting.
Frank married Bertha Foster on May 21, 1955 and she survives, along with their three children, James (Cathy) Michels of Mishawaka, Paul Michels of Carlton, Pennsylvania and Stewart Michels of Smyrna, Delaware; and a sister, Patricia Michels of Washington State.
Frank was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Demske.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, August 5, at 10 am in St. Bavo Catholic Church, 502 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Friends spent time with Frank’s family Thursday, August 4, from 6 - 8 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.
