Frank M. Price, a resident of Mishawaka, was called to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, January 25, 2024, ending his two-year battle with cancer. He was 69. Frank was born July 18, 1954, in Danville, Illinois. After graduating from Rossville High School, he attended Tennessee Temple Bible College where he met his future wife, Joanna Monroe. They were married on December 27, 1974, in Danville, Illinois, and just recently celebrated their 49-year wedding anniversary.

Joanna survives, along with their daughter Sonja (Josh) Torrans and his grandson, Eli Torrans. Surviving as well: his father, Howard Price of Remington, Indiana, and his brother, Tim Price of Danville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita (Williams) Price, his sister, Tammie Price, and older brother, Dean Price.

Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 3050 Edison Road. South Bend, IN 46615.  There will also be one hour of visitation at Lighthouse Baptist Church prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.  Frank will be laid to rest in Sunset Park Cemetery, Danville, Illinois.  Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home (formerly Goethals and Wells) has been entrusted with his care.  For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of Frank’s service will begin in the window below approximately 10 minutes prior to his service.

Frank started working at an early age delivering newspapers and he held various jobs throughout his life. While in college he became a security guard and after getting married he became a cement finisher specializing in concrete garage floors. He was promoted into managing a local branch for the garage company and transitioned into management positions in the fast-food industry. He made a move into factory work and then ventured into trucking only to come full circle and retire from a part time security guard position. He and Joanna also spent a decade in the local flea markets located in PawPaw and Niles, Michigan, Shipshewana and local festivals which included the annual Covered Bridge Festival.  Knowing no stranger, their booth allowed Frank to start a friendly chat with many a newfound friend.

Frank was a huge fan of fireworks and took classes to become a licensed pyrotechnician in order to put on fantastic, professional grade displays for his family and friends. He also loved to barbecue and smoke a variety of meats but in particular slabs of ribs. He loved desserts but the one he enjoyed the most was ice cream.

He was a dedicated fan of the Chicago Bears and American history. He joined a troop in Danville, who were Civil War reenactment actors, and their troop participated in the television miniseries, the Blue and the Gray, bringing history to life.

Frank was a loving and devoted husband to Joanna, and his love for his daughter, Sonja, knew no bounds.  His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be cherished by family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know this remarkable man.

Above all, Frank’s heart belonged to the Lord. His “warrior spirit” was evident in his boldness to share his faith with everyone he encountered. He was a “watchman” who loved Bible prophecy and was a part of the Decolores organization challenging men and women to grow in character and faith. Upon retirement, his other passion was to fish, and true to his calling, served as a “Fisher of Men”, sharing God’s plan of salvation with everyone he met.

In his memory, donations may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church. To light a virtual candle, share a story of Frank’s life, or leave a message of comfort for his family, please follow the links provided on the tribute wall tab above.
