Franklin Paul Becraft, 83, of Mishawaka, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

Frank was born January 30, 1934 in Mishawaka to the late Commodore “C.R.” and Margaret (Weinkauf) Becraft. He lived most of his life in Mishawaka and South Bend.

Frank was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Q. Becraft; a brother-in-law, Dale Fozo; and very dear friends, Thelma Greenwood and Benny Leonard.

Frank is survived by his sisters, Kathleen Fozo of South Bend and Sherry Sheets and her husband, Edward, of Mishawaka; sister-in-law, Darlene Becraft of Osceola; nieces and nephews; and a special neighbor, Tammy.

Frank graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1953 and was on the golf team. He lived on State Street, two blocks from the Eberhardt Golf Course, and as a young boy spent a lot of time at Eberhardt. After graduating from high school, he started working at Eberhardt as Assistant Pro. Golf became a great passion is his life. A few years later he moved to Michigan City to become Pro at Beverly Shores Golf Course. Leaving there he moved to Florida for several years working at several courses. He then returned to Indiana to become Pro at Morris Park Country Club and later at Elcona in Elkhart and later as Assistant Pro at Robin Hood Course and likely worked at other courses along the way.

Growing tired of working long hours and seven days a week, he retired from golf and went to work at Indiana and Michigan Electric Company where he became a member the dam team, maintain dams at Twin Branch and Niles. He retired from there in 1993.

Frank enjoyed going to garage sales and out to eat.

Per Frank’s request, his body was donated to the Anatomical Education Program at IU School of Medicine in Indianapolis.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
