G. Howard Christine

G. Howard Christine, 91, of Mishawaka, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, in Mishawaka.

Howard was the husband of the late June P. Christine; father of Julianne C. Turner of Granger, Mary C. Hayes of Wellesley, Massachusetts, and Thomas R. Christine of Dallas, Texas; and grandfather of Peter, Christopher, Katharine, William and Courtney.

Howard was born October 7, 1919 in Springfield, Illinois where he attended Springfield Junior College. In 1942, he married June Pehlman, his high school sweetheart.

Howard began a successful career in sales with Servel Co. in Evansville. Over the years he moved into roles in marketing management for companies including General Electric, York Corporation and finally with Symmons Industries in Braintree, Massachusetts.

Howard resided for years in Wellesley, MA and then on Cape Cod in Barnstable, MA before moving to the Waterford at Edison Lakes in Mishawaka. Howard was well known for his success in business and his love of competitive sports, especially golf and tennis. He was an avid booster of Notre Dame football. He will be missed by family and his many friends.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, in the chapel at Little Flower Catholic Church, South Bend. Rev. Cornelius Ryan, C.S.C. will officiate. Private burial will be in Wellesley, MA.
