Gladys “Sue†J. Wallis, 88, of Mishawaka, passed away early Saturday morning, June 6, 2015, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul’s where she resided in recent years.
Sue was born February 23, 1927 in Vigo County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Johnnie and Sallie (Tice) Whitney.
After moving to Mishawaka, she subsequently graduated from Mishawaka High School where she met Edward Wallis. On November 18, 1944, the couple married and made Mishawaka their home.
Sue was employed for 8 years at The Associates and retired after 34 years from Uniroyal Corporation where she worked in data processing.
Sue was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka, the United Methodist Women and the Women’s Circle. She was an avid reader and was an excellent cook.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, in 2010.
Sue’s surviving family includes her three children, John (Karen) Wallis of Frisco, Texas, Susan (Mark) Walter of Lake, Michigan and Lisa (Mike) Peterson of Granger; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Brian) Granger, Katherine Wallis, Christine (Jared) Weyerbacher and Adam Peterson; and two great grandchildren, Lillie Granger and Liam Weyerbacher.
Private family services will be held in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Dr. Joyce Kuhn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
There will be no public visitation.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka.
