Grace Viola Horvath, 75, of South Bend, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 10, 2012, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul’s.
Grace was born March 25, 1937 in Hammond, a daughter of the late Gaza and Irene (Yuhasz) Varga. She moved with her family to South Bend as a small child. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School.
Grace married Dezso “Davy†Horvath on May 3, 1957. The couple made South Bend their home.
Grace was employed in the Dietary Department for St. Joseph Regional Medical and for Real Services. She was a member of Ridgedale Presbyterian Church in South Bend. Grace enjoyed reading, watching television and visiting with family and friends. She loved her cat, Cleo.
Grace’s surviving family includes her four children, Sue (Gordon) Reynolds, Grace McBeth, Joe (Eileen) Horvath and Mary (Tim) Pipke; nine grandchildren, Trish, Bob and Kristin Reynolds, Anna McBeth, Joe, Josh and Alicia Horvath, Zac Pipke and Tabitha (Adam) Parkhouse; a sister, Trudy (Frank) Stec; a brother, Paul (Jill) Varga; and several nieces and nephews.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Dezso “Davyâ€; and a son-in-law, Doug McBeth.
Services with be held Tuesday at 1 pm in the Sanctuary at St. Paul’s, 3602 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, with Chaplain Carole McCollester officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday from 12 noon to 1 pm in the Sanctuary at St. Paul’s.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Sanctuary at St. Paul’s Rehab Department.
Arrangements are in the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
