Grace Blair Sneddon, 95, of Mishawaka, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013, in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend.
Grace was born September 19, 1917 in Glasgow, Scotland, a daughter of the late George and Janet (Blair) Russell. She grew up in Scotland and married John M. Sneddon on July 17, 1936. Grace moved to the United States in 1953 and settled with her husband and family in Mishawaka.
Grace was a homemaker and attended South Bend First Church of the Nazarene. Grace enjoyed baking and was especially proud of her Scottish shortbread. She also enjoyed knitting items for her family, cleaning and caring for her home and tending to the roses in her garden. She loved traveling with her husband to Canada and Scotland. Grace worked on numerous projects with the other wives of the Caledonia Kilty Band.
Grace’s surviving family includes her three children, Tom (Judy) Sneddon of Osceola, George (Charie) Sneddon of South Carolina and Janette (John) Carson of Mishawaka; a sister, Janette “Nettie†Watson of Scotland; ten grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1999; two sisters, Margaret Graham and Helen Hamilton; and two brothers, George and John Russell.
Friends may spend time with Grace’s family from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.
Services honoring Grace’s life will be held Monday, March 4, at 11:00 am in the funeral home, with Pastor Andy Lauer officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
