Gregory Labis

Gregory Labis, 71, of N. Webster entered heavenly rest on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025. He was born in South Bend on September 26, 1953, to the late Henry and Rosemary (Cunningham) Labis, and married Shirley Ann Boros in June of 1979. Shirley preceded him in death in January of 2015. Surviving is a son, Ryan (Amy) Labis of Michigan City, and a granddaughter Hillary Labis. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Herbert Goffeney. 

Greg proudly served as a police officer for nearly 28 years in the St. Jospeh County Police Department and later transferred into the Indiana Attorney’s Generals office as an investigator of Medicaid fraud for an additional 12 years. He was an active member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church and enjoyed his time with F.O.P. 155 and local Knights of Columbus. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time on his boat at Webster Lake.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place with a time to visit with family and friends scheduled Friday, January 24, 2025, from 9-11am at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home, Mishawaka. Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery after the 11am service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the St. Stanislaus Capital Campaign Fund at 109 Ann St. Michigan City, IN 46360.
