Harry T. Homeleski, age 92, passed away October 16, 2022, in Fishers, Indiana. He was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School, after which he proudly served in the United States Navy, as an electrician. In 1952 he was honorably discharged at the rank of EM2, after having sailed around the world twice thanks to the USS Valcour AVP-55 and the USS Leyte CV-32. He valued the memories surrounding his military days and spoke often of relationships built, education acquired, sights seen, and adventures had. He wore the title of Veteran as a badge of honor.
Upon returning to civilian life, Harry worked at Ball Band's and Studebaker's, before settling in long term at AT&T. In 1987, after 32 years of being a Communications Technician, he retired from their South Bend, South Scott Street address.
Harry married twice and embraced the families both wives brought with them. Along with that extended family he also has several nieces, nephews, and a devoted care giver. Harry is now with loved ones who passed before him; parents Anna (Rozwarska) & Alexander Homeleski; wives Dorthy (Story) & Anne (Claeys); siblings Walter LeBelt, Judy (LeBelt) Heidtman, Stella LaBelt, Arthur Homeleski & Al Homeleski, just to name a few.
Harry loved pork chops, mashed potatoes, sliced tomatoes, dark chocolate, Dr Pepper, and Salerno butter cookies. He also loved dancing, traveling, woodworking, anything electrical, retirement luncheons, and giving.
While those left behind will feel his absence, those he has joined will celebrate his presence. He was ready for that reunion. Until we see him again, he'll live on through his stories ...
A graveside service and military honors will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 20, 2022, in the Mausoleum at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Goethals and Wells Funeral Home has been entrusted with Harry’s care.
