Helen Marie Harbin, 77, of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday morning, September 11, 2018, at home.
Helen was born July 30, 1941 in LaPorte, Indiana, a daughter of the late Howard and Helen (Perkins) Cole. She grew up in Walkerton and was a 1959 graduate of Walkerton High School.
Helen married Lawrence “Butch” Harbin on January 30, 1965. The couple made Mishawaka their home where they raised their two children.
Helen was employed for over twenty years in the office at G.W. Berkheimer. She loved flower gardening and had multiple gardens at her home. She enjoyed sewing and in later years watching the Hallmark Channel.
Helen’s surviving family includes her two children, Scott (Donna) Harbin of Mishawaka and Charla (Kevin) Patti of Osceola; five grandchildren, Kacey (Chelcie), Brenda, Katelyn, Jarred and Landon, three great grandchildren, Addison, Liam and Bentley; three brothers, Larry Cole, Walter (Jill) Cole and Jerry Cole; and three sisters, Rosalee (Bill) Hayward, Marjean McCarthy and Billie Jo (Frank) Harshey.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Butch”; one brother; and two sisters.
Visitation will take place from 5 – 7 pm Friday, September 14, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.
A Memorial Service will begin at 7 pm Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Bob Vale officiating.
