Jack A. Sterzik, 90, of Osceola, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, in Kindred Valley View Health Care in Elkhart.

Jack was born August 2, 1923 in Manchester, Indiana, a son of the late Glenn and Ruby (Long) Sterzik. He grew up in Mishawaka and was a 1941 graduate of Mishawaka High School. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II.

On June 5, 1949, Jack married Rosemary J. Jones. The couple lived in Niles and Grand Rapids, Michigan, before settling in Osceola in 1962.

Jack was a diesel mechanic and was employed with Whiteford Trucking Company and also for the Railroads.

Jack was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. He was a life member of VFW Post #360 and Eagles Lodge #1167. He enjoyed fishing and making flies for fishing. Jack and Rosemary traveled and enjoyed spending time at their Cobert Lake cottage near Edwardsburg.

Jack’s surviving family includes his wife of nearly 65 years, Rosemary of Osceola; a sister, Veva Boone of Tempe, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Sterzik.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 9, at 10 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka.

There is no public visitation.

Arrangements are under the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
