Jerry N. Hunt, 73, of South Bend, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Jerry was born May 20, 1939 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, to Clifford and Laura (Sigsworth) Hunt. As a child he came to this area with his family. He grew up in South Bend and Granger and spent the majority of his life in Granger before moving to South Bend in the 1990’s.
Jerry was employed many years as a machine operator for Lumber Specialties in Granger. He was a proud volunteer firefighter for Harris Township and at one time served as Assistant Chief. Jerry was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church of South Bend. He loved traveling and watching the Food Channel. Jerry was loved by all who came in contact with him.
Jerry’s surviving family includes nephews and nieces, Earl (Darlene) Boyer of Lakeville, Deborah (Lewis) Singleton of South Bend, Jerry (Martha) Boyer of Fort Worth, Texas, Michael Boyer of South Bend, Kenneth (Denise) Boyer of Walkerton and Christine (Jim) Thompson of Leiters Ford; many great nephews and nieces; and many great-great nephews and nieces.
Jerry was preceded in death by his sister and her husband, Joyce and Earl Boyer; and by an infant brother, Larry Hunt.
Services honoring Jerry’s life will be held Tuesday at 12 noon in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Pastor Ryan Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday from 10 am to 12 noon in the funeral home.
