Joan T. Slott

Joan T. Slott, 85, of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend.

Joan was born September 30, 1927 in Mishawaka, a daughter of the late Charles “Pete” and Katherine “Clara” (Spencer) Roebuck. She grew up in Mishawaka and was a member of the Class of 1945 at Mishawaka High School. She lived in South Bend for 31 years before returning to Mishawaka in 1978.

Joan was employed at Associates in South Bend, Will’s Gift Shop in Mishawaka and retired from Mishawaka Utilities.

Joan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and dancing.

Joan’s surviving family includes her six children, James (Sheree) Slott of Eau Claire, Michigan, Deborah Slott of Indianapolis, Robert Slott of Austin, Texas, Linda Slott of Indianapolis, William Slott of Eau Claire, Michigan, and Thomas (Lisa) Slott of South Bend; a sister, Jean Wawrzyniak; 15 grandchildren, Lauren, Caitlin, Tess, Jessica, Sara, David, Alysson, Bryan, Kristen, Jennifer, Bradley, Chris, John, Carolyn and Danny; and 15 great grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ellen McNerny and Kay Winans; and two brothers, George Roebuck and Bill Roebuck.

Friends may spend time with Joan’s family Friday, May 31, from 4 - 7 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, where the Rosary will be prayed at 4 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 1, at 1:30 pm in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Riley Children’s Hospital or St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
