John Mikulyuk, 94, of Hart, Michigan, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012.
John was born May 13, 1917 in Mishawaka, a son of the late John and Martha (Dubonich) Mikulyuk. He grew up in Mishawaka and graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1936 where he played basketball. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II.
John was employed at Uniroyal Corporation (Ball Band) as a product engineer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. He assisted with athletics and Boy Scouts at St. Joseph School. John was a member of VFW 360 and Knights of Columbus 1878. He was an avid sports fan.
John married Rosemary Mecklenburg on October 12, 1940. They made Mishawaka their home until moving to St. Paul’s Retirement Community in 2000 and then to Michigan in 2008 to live near a son.
John is survived by his wife of 71 years, Rosemary; four children, Marilyn (Jerome) Einkopf of Kimberling City, MO, George (Cynthia) Mikulyuk of Pentwater, MI, Christine Mikulyuk of Hoffman Estates, IL and Richard Mikulyuk of Warsaw, IN; two brothers, Michael and Andrew Mikulyuk both of Mishawaka; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Charles Mikulyuk.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 30, at 10:30 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 am in the church.
