John Elmer Phillips, 73, of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015, in his home.
John was born May 15, 1942 in Mishawaka, a son of the late Charles and Ada (Oleck) Phillips. He spent most of his life in Mishawaka but did live for 21 years in Las Vegas.
John was employed for nearly 30 years at Wheelabrator-Frye Corporation. He enjoyed fishing, football and cheering against Notre Dame. He will be forever loved and missed by his family.
Besides his parents, John was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Copley; and a brother, Raymond Baranowski.
John is survived by his two sons, Michael Phillips of Maineville, Ohio and Kenny Phillips of Fishers, Indiana; a brother, Mervin (Sandy) Phillips of Oceanside, California; two sisters, Pat (George) Evans of Paw Paw, Michigan and Valerie (Mike) McQueen of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Hilary, Dillon, Jacob and Courtney; and a great granddaughter, Aubrey. John was very appreciative of his nephew Jimmy McQueen for all his help in the later stages of his life.
Following John’s wishes there will be no services.
Arrangements are under the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
