John E.”Jim” Rosteck, 87, of South Bend, Indiana and a former longtime resident of Fraser, Michigan, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Arbors of Southfield Village in South Bend.

Jim was born May 29, 1926 in Fraser a son of the late Arthur and Marie (Endres) Rosteck. He was a graduate of Fraser High School. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II. Jim married Ruth Alvina Riethmeier on September 4, 1948. She preceded him in death in 2006 after 58 years of marriage. Jim owned and operated Rosteck Contractor. He was a member and Past Commander of VFW Post # 6691 in Fraser.

Jim’s surviving family includes a son, Jim (Mary Kay) Rosteck of Palos Verdes Estates, California; a daughter, Sue Morgan of South Bend; three grandchildren and one great grandson, John (Alisha) Morgan and their son, Tyler; James Morgan and Alexander Rosteck; a sister, Bonnie Layman; and a brother, Gerald (Mary) Rosteck. Besides his wife he was also preceded in death by a son, William Rosteck; and a brother, Arthur Rosteck.

Jim’s family would like to say thank you to the staff at Southfield Village and the Center for Hospice Care for the care they have shown Jim and his family.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held on March 15 in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township, Michigan. Rev. Brown from Hope United Church of Christ will officiate. Memorials are suggested to Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or to Hope United Church of Christ, 35127 Garfield Road, Clinton Twp., MI 48035.

Arrangements are in the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
