Kathy Jean Werner, 73, of Mishawaka entered heavenly rest on Saturday, September 28, 2024. She was born in Mishawaka on July 11, 1951, to the late Clem and Catharee (White) Fleck and later married Ralph Werner who preceded her in death in 2023.
Surviving are their children Tammy Fisher, Mike (Jenifer) Fisher, and Daniel “Boone” (Heather) Fisher all of Mishawaka, and Curtiss “CR” Werner of Osceola. Along with 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Kathy dedicated over 20 years of her life to serving her community as a Registered Nurse, yet her true happiness was found at home, surrounded by her family and closest friends. Known affectionately as the "neighborhood mom," her home was always open, welcoming kids and friends alike for visits and laughter. A passionate fan of Notre Dame football, Kathy also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society, where she cherished the camaraderie and fun. In her leisure time, she found joy in watching the playful antics of birds and squirrels in her backyard. One of her fondest memories was the unforgettable train journey across the country that she and Ralph took before embarking on an Alaskan cruise, a trip that remains etched in her heart.
A time to celebrate her life is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 3rd from 4-7 pm at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home, Mishawaka. A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct.4th at 11 am at Wells and Cruz Funeral Home. Entombment will follow the service at St. Jospeh Valley Memorial Park.
