Kevin R. Moore

Kevin R. Moore, 57, of South Bend, passed away Friday morning, July 8, 2011 in his home.

Kevin was born October 2, 1953 in Mishawaka, a son of the late Richard N. and Phyllis “Jeanne” Moore. He grew up in Mishawaka and attended St. Monica Grade School and Penn High School. Kevin suffered a stroke in high school and despite its lasting effects he did not let it slow him down.

Kevin married June Ladyga on October 2, 1976 at Christ the King Catholic Church in South Bend. The couple made South Bend their home.

Kevin’s employment included the Associates, Bendix Corporation and he retired from IUSB after 20 years of service. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Notre Dame football and basketball fan as well as a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He was a talented musician and could play numerous instruments by ear.

Kevin’s surviving family includes his wife of nearly 35 years, June; on Kevin’s side of the family: a brother, Bryon (Lee) Moore; a nephew, Kelly (Myken) Moore; a niece, Leslie Moore; a great nephew, Braxton Moore; and an uncle and aunt, Walter and Margaret Moore; on June’s side of the family: his mother-in-law, Doris Ladyga; a sister-in-law, Debbie (Don) Block; a brother-in-law, Gary (Corina) Ladyga; a nephew, Chad (Nicole) Ladyga; and two great nieces, Maelyn and Hiltyn Ladyga. Kevin’s family also includes a special family friend, Michael Cooper; as well as Kevin’s dog and cat, Ozzie and Kit Kat.

Friends spent time with Kevin’s family Wednesday, July 13, from 4 - 6 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.

Memorial Services were held Wednesday, July 13, at 6 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Jeffery Largent officiating.

Entombment will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
