LeeAnn Thornton, 68, of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday morning, August 3, 2016 in her home.

LeeAnn was born November 3, 1947 in South Bend, the daughter of the late Leland and Ruth Ann (Futterknecht) Brady. She grew up in Mishawaka and was a 1965 graduate of Mishawaka High School.

On November 4, 1967, LeeAnn married Michael D. Thornton. The couple made Mishawaka their home.

LeeAnn was employed for 32 years at Value House which later became AmerisourceBergen. In her earlier years she had been employed at Uniroyal.

LeeAnn was a member at St. Monica Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also belonged to American Legion #210 Women’s Auxiliary. LeeAnn enjoyed cooking, reading, Sudoku and crosswords, traveling and going to the casino. She was faithful in attending her grandchildren’s activities.

LeeAnn’s surviving family includes her husband of over 48 years, Michael D. Thornton, Sr.; a daughter, Michele A. (Nicholas) Hartley; a son, Shawn P. (Brandy) Thornton; and seven grandchildren, Kirstie, Darian and Kayla Hartley, Christopher Thornton, Patrick Romeo, and Mackenzie and Shawn Thornton.

LeeAnn was preceded in death by a son, Michael D. Thornton, Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 6, at 10 am in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, with Rev. Jacob Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

Friends may spend time with LeeAnn’s family Friday, August 5, from 5 - 8 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, and Saturday from 9 - 10 am in church.

Friends and family are invited to a gathering celebrating LeeAnn's life from 1 - 4 pm on Saturday, August 13, at American Legion Post #161, 133 Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka.

Memorials are suggested to Center for Hospice Care or St. Monica Catholic Church. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
