Lesley L. Steinkellner, 94, of Granger, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 in North Woods Village Memory Care, Mishawaka.
Lesley was born October 27, 1922 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Herbert and Hazel (Banse) Linde. She grew up in East Troy, Wisconsin. Following high school she continued her education earning a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Wisconsin, a Master’s Degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and her PhD from University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana.
Lesley’s employment included working in hospitals in medical technology, working as a Chemist with Monsanto, and as an Assistant Professor at IU Northwest, Gary, Indiana.
Lesley lived many places throughout the country, including Granger and Grand Junction, before residing in recent years in Mishawaka. Wherever she lived she was known for volunteer work and was especially active with the Lions Club in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Lesley’s surviving family includes three children, Carol J. St. John, Vicki S. Caturla and James G. (Debbie) Steinkellner; a daughter-in-law, Felicity Wray; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Lesley was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia K. Poole; a son, Michael D. Steinkellner; a brother, Robert Linde; and two grandchildren, David A. Poole and Hans Michael Steinkellner.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
