Margaret Ruth Lamb, 82, of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 24, 2013, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul’s following a long illness.
Margaret (known by some as “Margeâ€) was born September 26, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of the late George and Rosanna (Schmidt) Neumann. She was a graduate of Horace Mann High School in Gary, Indiana. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington and her Master’s from St. Mary’s College in South Bend.
On May 26, 1950, Margaret married Don R. Lamb. The couple made Mishawaka their home.
Margaret was an elementary school teacher for 32 years with South Bend Public Schools. She loved teaching and most of those years were at Studebaker School.
Margaret was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Mishawaka. She also belonged to the National Education Association as well as the Indiana Teachers Association.
Margaret’s surviving family includes three daughters, Deborah Gresham, Margaret (Chuck) Yoder and Jennifer Sweeney; three grandsons, Michael Lykowski, Robert Gresham, Jr., and Adam Gresham; and two great granddaughters (Robert’s daughters), Mariah and Madison Gresham.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Don; a daughter, Rosanna; a brother, Robert Neumann; and a sister, Lorraine Nessler M.D.
Friends may spend time with Margaret’s family Saturday, July 27, from 1 - 2 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.
Services honoring Margaret’s life will held Saturday at 2 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Leroy Wise officiating.
