Mary L. Keefer, 76, of Mishawaka, passed away Saturday morning, June 25, 2016 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Mary was born July 15, 1939 in Mishawaka, a daughter of the late Loyell and Hazel Hunter. She was a 1957 graduate of Mishawaka High School. She attended Ivy Tech College.
Mary married James D. Keefer on August 31, 1957. They lived in Mishawaka and during retirement lived in Lucedale, Mississippi. Jim passed away in 2013 and Mary moved back to Mishawaka in 2015.
Mary was employed as a Pharmacy Technician for 23 years at Kraft Pharmacy and 10 years at Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Mary enjoyed needle work of any kind. She shared this talent by making lap robes for nursing homes and newborn hats for St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Mary’s surviving family includes two sons, Christopher Keefer and Erik (Michelle) Keefer; a daughter, Susan (John) Finney; four grandchildren, Kala, Chadwick, Collin and McKenzie Keefer; two great grandchildren, Elaina and Braiden Keefer; and two sisters, Betty (C.J.) Herendon and Bea (Stan) Zielinski.
Besides her husband, Jim, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Hunter.
Services will be held 7 pm Friday, July 1, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Christopher Lapp officiating.
Friends may spend time with Mary’s family from 6 - 7 pm Friday in the funeral home.
