Mildred “Peg†Zimmer, 69, of Osceola, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 10, 2014, in her home.
Peg was born January 26, 1945 in Michigan City. She grew up in Michigan City and was a 1963 graduate of Elston High School. She moved to South Bend in 1968 and to Osceola in 1988.
Peg was employed from 1982 - 1997 at Michiana Community Hospital and from 1997 - 2007 at Radiology, Inc. She was a member of Granger Community Church where she volunteered with child care in the farm room and nursery. Peg enjoyed photography, crocheting, making stained glass and shopping. Her greatest joy was her family and she was especially fond of her grandchildren.
Peg married Nelson “Bud†Zimmer of March 12, 1988 and he survives. Other surviving family members include four children, Scott Bailey of Bristol, Greg Bailey of Chicago, IL, Carla Jones (Michael) of Osceola and Michelle Prough of Goshen; four grandchildren, Lea, Morgan, Zaya and Aiden; and a sister, Norine Sandino of Michigan City.
Peg was preceded in death by grandparents that raised her, Florence and Frank Bowker; three sisters, Shirley Whitman, Pearl Shepperson and Kathy McIntyre; and a brother, Frank Bowker.
Services honoring Peg’s life and faith will be held Saturday, October 18, at 1 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Pastor Gene Troyer of Granger Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery, Bremen.
Friends may spend time with Peg’s family Saturday from 11 am - 1 pm in the funeral home.
