Monabelle “Mona” R. Diltz, 90, of Granger passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, surrounded by her daughters in Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson.

Mona was born October 1, 1922, in Mishawaka, a daughter of the late Earl and Mabel (Woollet) Wade. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1940.

On September 25, 1943, Mona married Raymond G. Diltz. They lived in Mishawaka until moving to Granger in 1975.

Mona was a homemaker, lovingly raising three daughters. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger. While living in Mishawaka she was a member of St. Monica Church and belonged to their Rosary Society and the Mother’s Club. She was also a volunteer for United Way. Mona and Ray were active campers and members of the Avion Travelcade Club. They wintered in Sebring, Florida, for many years.

Monabelle’s surviving family includes three daughters: Linda Sue Baker of Osceola, Sister Judith Diltz, PHJC, of Donaldson, and Patricia (Lowell) Paschke of Granger; five grandchildren: Timothy (Sharon) Baker, Thomas Baker, Tina (Patrick) Whitlock, Jessa Paschke and Jillian (Matthew) Oakley; five great grandchildren: Alexa and Blake Baker, Raya Belle and Jamesyn Whitlock, and Athena Oakley; and a brother, Carl (Lois) Wade of California.

Monabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, in 2004; a grandson; two brothers; and one sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:30 am in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, with Rev. Terry Coonan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Friends may spend time with Mona’s family Thursday from 4 - 8 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, where a prayer service will take place at 7 pm. Visitation will also be Friday from 10:30 - 11:30 am in the church.

Memorials are suggested to Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Ministries or Christ Child Society. Assistance with memorials is available through the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Catherine Kasper Home for the loving care Mona received the past six years.
