Myron B. Burkhardt, 83, of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Glenda’s Caring Cottage, South Bend.
Myron was born April 9, 1938 in Linton, North Dakota, to the late Benjamin and Alma (Huber) Burkhardt. He grew up in North Dakota and moved to the Michiana area in 1970. Myron later moved to the western part of the United States where he lived for many years before returning to Mishawaka in 2011. He served his country in the US Navy from 1955 – 1957.
Myron married Mary E. Bentzler on November 11, 1970 and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Karen Grove of Mishawaka and Robert (Debbie) Cox of Franklin, Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris Wolfe and Arlys McCrory.
Myron was preceded in death by two sons, James and Gary Crimaldi.
Myron worked as an Electrical Lineman for many years while living out west. He was a member of American Legion Post #1 in Bismarck, North Dakota. Myron enjoyed fixing and making things and tinkering in the garage. He also liked traveling, playing cards, going to the casino and socializing with friends.
Myron’s family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at Comfort 1 Hospice, Glenda’s Caring Cottage and also to Sally Zimmerle.
Services will be held at 1 pm on Monday, May 24, in the chapel at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka, with Chaplain David Howe officiating. Military honors will be by VFW 360/American Legion 161 Burial Squad.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
