Noah Beatty Carter, age 81 of Mishawaka, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Noah was born on January 1, 1942, in Glasgow, Kentucky to the late James Greenberry Lee and Francis Nola (Neighbors) Carver. Noah later graduated from the Louisville School for the Blind. Noah met his wife-to-be, Irene Lipovsky, at the Cincinnati Music Hall when both happened to be performing there in the Summer of 1972. They became fast friends and later husband and wife on April 8, 1973. In 1979, they relocated to South Bend before moving to their permanent home in Mishawaka in 1991.
Noah is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irene Leonore Carver of Mishawaka and their children Joan Marie (John) Arnold of Huntington, Indiana and Adam David Carver of Mishawaka, their granddaughter Lacey Nissley, and their great grandchildren Abigail Marie and Zayden Foster Gregory. Surviving as well are his brothers Joe (Beulah) Carver of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Donald Carver of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his siblings Earl, Alfred, Wilton, Jeanetta, Beatrice, Loureed, Elvie, Marybelle and Mildred.
There will be a celebration of Noah’s life on Saturday June 3, 2023 at Oak tree Community Church located at 53922 Olive Road South Bend, In 46628 starting at 4pm. Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home (Formerly Goethals and Wells) has been entrusted with his care.
He developed a love for music at an early age, and his God-given talent allowed him to share his music with others. The Carver's enjoyed a career together performing folk music at local venues, restaurants, private parties, festivals, nursing homes, churches as well as teaching voice, guitar, and other instruments. One of the highlights of their music career was being invited to the White House with the Very Special Arts program as well as performing in Washington DC at The Capital Building, The Kennedy Center and The Old Post Office and Clock Tower.
In his spare time, Noah loved to watch and listen to sports. He enjoyed basketball, especially the NCAA March Madness Tournament, and some football games, but his passion was for the game of baseball. His love of the game ran deep, and he shared his knowledge of baseball with his wife so she too could understand the intricacies of the game. Noah was a die-hard fan of the Cincinnati Reds and spent many years rooting for his team. He also had an amazing sense of humor and loved to tell funny stories and clean jokes to get a laugh whenever possible.
Most of all, Noah was a man of faith. His love for the Lord was shown daily through his interactions with others. He was the leader of his family, sharing time with them in Bible study and boldly sharing the love of God to others whenever possible. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
