Patricia Ann Kilian, 88, of South Bend, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2013 in her home.

Pat was born December 16, 1924 in Balta, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Harry and Justine (Dobmeyer) Maroney. She grew up in Melrose, Minnesota.

On January 6, 1946, Pat married Rudolph “Rudy” Kilian. They moved to South Bend in 1967 and Rudy passed away in 1972.

Pat was employed at the University of Notre Dame Bookstore and for Real Services. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life. For years she attended daily Mass and was a member of a ladies prayer group that faithfully met twice a month. Pat enjoyed reading, cooking for her family and caring for her grandchildren. She loved animals and fed the birds and squirrels.

Along with her faith, Pat’s family was the center of her life. Those left to cherish her memory include her nine daughters, Peggy (John) VanHorn, Colleen Kilian, Barbie (Charlie) Longnecker, Patricia Kilian, Kathy (Bernie) King, Connie Kilian, Mary (Tim) Bonadies, Ann (Peter) Kilian-Clark, and Carol (John) Mertes; 26 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Rudy; she was also preceded in death by her brother, Maury Maroney; and a granddaughter, Tracy Longnecker.

Friends may spend time with Pat’s family Monday, June 17, from 4 - 8 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 18, at 10 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
