Paul E. Trippel, 77, of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014, at Sprenger Health Care.

Paul was born July 17, 1936 in Mishawaka, a son of the late Carl and Margaret Ann (Deitchley) Trippel. He spent his entire life in the Mishawaka area. Paul attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Madison Township High School. He served his country in the US Army from 1959 - 1961.

On September 23, 1961 Paul married Phyllis Frick in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakeville.

Paul was a bricklayer working for various contractors. He was a member of Bricklayers Union Local #4.

Paul was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka where he served as an usher and at one time was a server with his sons. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1878 in Mishawaka. Paul helped organize and coach Elm Road Softball. His favorite hobbies were fishing and woodworking. Paul was a Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed attending South Bend Silver Hawks games.

Paul’s family was an important part of his life. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years, Phyllis; five sons, Charles (Julie) Trippel, David (Shawn) Trippel, Andrew Trippel, Daniel (Lisa) Trippel and Gregory (Kimberly) Trippel; four grandchildren, Matthew, Kevin, Kara and Lance Trippel; two brothers, Edward (Geraldine) Trippel and Raymond (Dorothy) Trippel; a sister, Irene (Cyriel) DeVliegher; two sisters-in-law, Helen Trippel and Barbara Trippel; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by a son, Carl (Trippel) Armentrout; three brothers, Thomas Trippel, William Trippel and Charles Trippel; and a sister, Patricia Trippel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 24, at 11:30 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 - 11:30 am in the church.
