Peggy Ann VanAcker, 61, of Mishawaka, passed away Saturday evening, July 21, 2018, at home following a courageous battle with several illnesses.

Peggy was born April 8, 1957 in Mishawaka, a daughter of the late Arthur and Jacquelyn (Lichtenbarger) Lindenberg. She was a life-long resident of Mishawaka and was a graduate of Mishawaka High School. She earned a degree in interior design from Ivy Tech.

Peggy’s employment included as a draftsman and engineering assistant at Skyline Corporation and also interior design work at PDH.

Peggy was a very creative and multi-talented person with a good heart, putting others before herself. She was an all-around great cook and baker. She liked arts and crafts and particularly painting, drawing and making wreaths. Peggy enjoyed flower, herb and vegetable gardening. She had a beautiful voice and being read to by Peggy brought great joy to others. She also loved reading, watching PBS and was an avid listener of NPR.

Peggy’s surviving family includes her daughters, Fae Ann VanAcker of Mishawaka and Marie VanAcker; a brother, Lonnie (Kathy) Lindenberg of Mishawaka; and two sisters, Nancy Baker of New Buffalo, Michigan and Randa Teter of South Bend.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gaston “Key” and Blondina VanAcker.

Memorial Services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 31, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Chaplain Trevor Foley officiating.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 pm on Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County to be used for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library which is a book gifting program for children from birth until they begin school. A second memorial suggestion is to PBS (Public Broadcasting System). Assistance with memorials is available through the funeral home.
