Ralph Edward Werner, age 78 of Mishawaka, passed away at his residence on March 22, 2023. Ralph was born November 10, 1944 in Mishawaka to the late Paul and Kathryn (Rodwell) Werner. He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, class of 1963. On November 28, 1981, he married Kathy Fleck. They recently celebrated their forty-first anniversary.
Kathy survives, along with their children Carrie (Nate) Swailes of East Jordan, Michigan, and Tammy Fisher, Mike (Jenifer) Fisher, Daniel “Boone” (Heather) Fisher, all of Mishawaka, and Curtiss “CR” (fiancé Tricia Gower) of Osceola. Surviving as well are his grandchildren Amelia and Natalie Swailes, Ryan (Charda), Jeffery (Marian) and Courtnee Anderson, Carl “CJ,” Justin and Brady Fisher, Addison Fisher and Alex Boggs, and Alexis, Shelly, Emily and Ty Werner. Five great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his daughter Shelley Ann Werner and his siblings Linda Werner, Janet Bechler, and Gary Werner.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Monday, March 27, 2023, at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home (formerly Goethals and Wells) in Mishawaka. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Ralph will be entombed in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park following the service.
Ralph worked for over 46 years at AM General where he held a supervisor position for numerous years prior to working with the UAW Local #5. In his spare time, he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, traveling with his wife Kathy, and watching NASCAR and Notre Dame sports.
Most of all, Ralph loved being a husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa to his family. He loved spending time playing board games with his grandchildren, especially the game of RISK.
