Richard Lawrence Parker, 70, of Mishawaka, passed away Monday morning, August 15, 2016 in his home.

Richard, known to some as “Parker", was born November 4, 1945 in Mishawaka, a son of the late Ledger and Helen (Perry) Parker. He lived his entire life in Mishawaka. He served his country in the US Navy from 1962 - 1966.

Since 1992, he owned and operated the family business, Parker’s Central Park Bait. His prior employment was as a truck mechanic. Richard was a member of VFW Post #360 and enjoyed fishing.

Richard’s surviving family includes his former wife, Marianne (Burns) Parker of Mishawka; a daughter, Kerri (Sam) Southwick of Rockford, Michigan; a son, Ledger (Sabrina) Parker of Mishawaka; three grandchildren, Madelynn Southwick, Jackson Southwick and Jaiden Parker; three brothers, Charles (Barbara) Parker, Randy (Joan) Parker and Thomas Parker; and a sister, Karla Haynes.

Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Arnicar; and two brothers, Michael Parker and Ledger Parker.

Services honoring Richard’s life will be held 3 pm Saturday, August 20, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. David Price officiating. Military honors by American Legion #161/VFW #360 Burial Squad will follow.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday from 1 - 3 pm in the funeral home.
