Rodney Kevin Harness, 62, of South Bend, passed away Wednesday morning, March 26, 2014, in his home.
Rod was born April 16, 1951 in Smokey Junction, Tennessee, a son of Claude and Glenis (Ward) Harness. At the age of 3 he moved with his family to South Bend. Rod graduated from Riley High School in 1969. He then served his country in the US Army.
Rod was employed in management at AM General and for several years at Coachman. He dearly loved golfing. Rod golfed with fellow members of Mishawaka’s Club 15 as well as with other friends. He also enjoyed fishing and won several tournaments. Rod’s family was an important part of his life.
Rod married Teri Bechdol on June 30, 1990. Teri survives along with his mother, Glenis Harness; four children, Tim (Kaycee) Kornrumph of Keystone, Indiana, Will “Bub” Kornrumph of Elkhart, Dana (J.D.) Cheney of Huntington, Indiana and Gabriel Harness; a brother, Roy Curtis “Curt” (Carol) Harness of Rhode Island; and eleven grandchildren, Savannah, Sophia, Serenity, Timmy, Tommy, Sienna, Shi, Summer, Cameron, Campbell and Reese.
Rod was preceded in death by his father, Claude in 2010.
Friends may spend time with Rod’s family Sunday from 3 – 6 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.
Services honoring Rod’s life will be held Monday at 10:30 am in the funeral home with Pastor Bob Vale leading the service. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
