Roger D. Hamilton, Sr., 70, of Florence, Alabama, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016.
Roger was born February 20, 1946 in South Bend, a son of the late John and Vera (Havens) Hamilton. He grew up in the South Bend / Mishawaka area where he lived until moving to Florence several years ago. He served his country in the US Army from 1965 to 1968.
Roger was a diesel mechanic and over the years his employment included Kreamo Bakery, Mack Truck and R.C. Cola. He loved boating and fishing. He had a great singing voice and loved doing karaoke in the area.
Roger’s surviving family includes a son, Roger (Melissa) Hamilton, Jr.; a daughter, Misty (Danny, Jr.) Plummer; a brother, Larry Hamilton; and three sisters, Juanita Mawhorter, Rosemary (Sky) Hinman and Patti (Michael) Thompson.
Roger was preceded in death by a brother, David Hamilton; and two sisters, Billie Jo Hamilton and Patricia Hamilton.
Services honoring Roger’s life will be held Friday, December 2, at 12 noon in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Burial will follow in the Veterans Section at Fairview Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW 360 / American Legion 161 Burial Squad.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 am to 12 noon in the funeral home.
