Ronald L. Gerstbauer

Ronald L. Gerstbauer, 65, of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Ron was born May 23, 1955 in Mishawaka to Albert R. and June M. (Hagler) Gerstbauer. He was a graduate of Marian High, earned an Associates Degree from Holy Cross Junior College, a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University and Master’s Degree from University of Alabama.

Ron married Pamela S. Skidmore on May 30, 1981 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Because of Ron’s work, they lived in several places over the years and recently settled in Mishawaka.

Ron worked for 27 years in higher education as an administrator and teacher. In recent years, he was a realtor with Cressy & Everett.

Ron was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Ron was always an active community member in the places he lived. He enjoyed home improvement projects, camping, fishing, boating and spending time with his family. Ron’s Catholic Faith was the center of life. His grace and courage throughout his long illness was an inspiration to all.

Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Pam; three children, Adam (Megan) Gerstbauer, Ann (Alex) Nimtz and Daniel (Jasmine McLane) Gerstbauer; four grandchildren, Aurelia, Louis, Lyra and Ellwood Gerstbauer; his mother, June; a sister, Diane (Bruce) Chandler; and four brothers James (Delaine) Gerstbauer, David (Beth) Gerstbauer, Donald Gerstauer and Michael (Cynthia) Gerstbauer; and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Albert “Al”; and infant brothers, Mark, Chris and Gabe Gerstbauer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, April 19, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Ken Amadi officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka.

Visitation will be from 3 – 6 pm on Sunday in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.
