Rosemary “Rosie†L. Klaer, 70, of Mishawaka, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Rosemary was born August 27, 1944 in Mishawaka, the daughter of the late Lynn and Rita (Scheibelhut) Klaer. She grew up in Mishawaka and was a 1962 graduate of Mishawaka High School. She had wonderful memories of her many high school activities, especially cheerleading.
Rosemary’s employment was most often as an Executive Secretary. Following high school she worked at Dodge Manufacturing. In 1972 she moved to Bradenton, Florida, working for the President of Chris-Craft Boats. She returned to Mishawaka in 1980 working at Sibley Machine & Foundry. The last 10 years of her career were spent working for the Corporate Attorney at the Sisters of St. Francis Health Services.
Rosie was always an active member of the Mishawaka community. For over fifty years she was a member and held many offices with Tri Kappa Sorority. She served on the Board of Directors for the Mishawaka RES and for over 20 years with the Mishawaka Plan Commission and also the Board of Zoning Appeals. Rosie also served on numerous Summerfest Committees. She was active with the Mishawaka Alumni Association, the Mishawaka High Booster Club, and along with Karen (Stoehr) Mowery headed up many class reunions. Rosie had many interests including travel, interior decorating, gardening, cooking and baking for her family and friends and of course, just socializing. She kept up with the latest including clothing styles, furniture and computers and was known far and wide for taking good care of her home and belongings.
Rosemary is survived by her brother, Larry (Cathy) Klaer of St. Joseph, Michigan; a nephew, Ryan (Kim) Klaer and their three children, Riley, Karly and Russell of St. Joseph, Michigan; a niece, Heather (Jon) Mastny and their two children, Dylan and Evan of Dublin, Ohio; cousins, Tom (Kathy), Jack and Jerry (Gail) Klaer, Bud (Mary Ann), John (Jane), Pete, Bob (Delores) Scheibelhut, Mary Copper, Nancy (Larry) Wolfe and Vicki (Ed) Filley; and Rosie’s special companion, Robert Strang, Sr., and his family. Rosie is also survived by many close friends in the Mishawaka area as well as out of state.
Services honoring Rosemary’s life will be held at 10 am on Monday, December 1, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher leading the service. Entombment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 2 - 5 pm on Sunday, November 30, in the funeral home.
