Ruth A. Banker, 97, of Mishawaka, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 in her home.
Ruth was born April 25, 1920 in Peru, Illinois, a daughter of the late Claud and Lucy (Munro) Brooker. She graduated from LaSalle High School in Peru.
Ruth married Kenneth Earl Banker on December 11, 1948 in South Bend. The couple moved to Mishawaka in 1953.
Ruth was a homemaker. She was an active member of Albright United Methodist Church and their United Methodist Women. Ruth enjoyed playing cards at the Battell Center and Howard Park and frankly anywhere she could play. She was a great cook and baker and was known for her peanut brittle as well as other items. She also liked to sew and was a flower and vegetable gardener.
Ruth is survived by her three children, LuAnn Jasinski, Keith (Kathy) Banker and Donald Banker; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Doug) Riskovitch, Chad (Tracy) Banker, Jennifer Sanders and Jayme (Tony) Serino; eleven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; brothers, Francis, Robert and Donald Brooker; and a sister, Mary Jean Follett.
Services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, January 30, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
Visitation is from 4 – 7 pm on Monday, January 29, and Tuesday from Noon – 1 pm in the funeral home.
