Sandra “Sandy†Jean DeFrancisco, 64, of Mishawaka, passed away early Friday morning, May 1, 2015, in Hospice House, Elkhart.
Sandy was born November 11, 1950 in Berwick, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Gene and Leatha (Spaid) Eyer. She graduated in 1968 from Central Columbia High School in Pennsylvania.
On August 31, 1968, Sandy married James DeFrancisco in Berwick, Pennsylvania. They lived in Battle Creek, Michigan from 1973 to 1989 before moving to Mishawaka.
Sandy was employed in the Radiology Department at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend.
Sandy had a strong Christian faith and studied her Bible daily. In the past she was dedicated to hospitality and prayer ministries at River Valley Church until her health declined. Sandy enjoyed scrapbooking, flower gardening and was known as a fantastic cook. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren.
Sandy’s surviving family includes her husband of over 46 years, Jim; three sons, Christopher (Melinda) DeFrancisco of Galesburg, Michigan; James (Jeneene) DeFrancisco of Galesburg, Michigan; and Thomas DeFrancisco of Osceola; seven grandchildren, Kayla, Danielle, Noah, Nicolas, Madelyn, Gabriella and Rocco; and a sister, Wendy (Gary) Boyer of Mifflinville, Pennsylvania.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by infant siblings, Larry and Gail Eyer.
Services honoring Sandy’s life and faith will be held Tuesday at 10 am in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka. Burial will be Tuesday at 2:30 pm at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 - 7 pm in the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Center for Hospice Care or Faith Mission in Elkhart. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
