Susan Mary Ivancsics, 68, of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis after a hard-fought battle with lymphoma.
Susan was born December 4, 1953 in Mishawaka to Julius and Helen (Frick) Ivancsics. She grew up in South Bend and was a 1972 graduate of John Adams High School. Susan attended IUSB and graduated from Michiana College of Commerce.
Susan began her 47-year career with the United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Indiana, in 1974 in South Bend. In 1988, she transferred as Deputy in Charge to establish the Bankruptcy Court’s Fort Wayne office. She transferred back to South Bend in 1996 as Court Services Administrator where she served until her passing. Susan earned numerous awards due to her vast knowledge of bankruptcy law.
In her free time, Susan traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Most of all, Susan enjoyed helping care for her beloved niece and nephews. Susan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka.
Susan is survived by her mother, Helen Ivancsics; her four siblings, Thomas Ivancsics and wife, Tina Dombrowski of St. Paul, MN, Mary Beth of Mishawaka, IN, Robert of South Bend, IN, and Michael and his wife, Mary (Walsh) of South Bend, IN; a niece and goddaughter, Maria; and three nephews, Michael, Johnny and Stephen. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Julius Ivancsics.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, February 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Visitation is Sunday, February 13, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, and where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm.
Memorial donations are suggested to Hannah’s House or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka.
