Teddy “Ted” Leach, 73, of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Ted was born March 28, 1947 in Rochester, Indiana. He grew up in Mishawaka and was a graduate of Mishawaka High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving his country in the US Army.
Ted retired after 23 years with the US Army where he served as an instructor of leadership programs. He also worked at PDH Office Products as a driver and supervisor and also at the St. Joseph County Jail as a special deputy. Ted loved fishing and was a member of Michiana Walleye Association. He belonged to VFW #360 and enjoyed flower gardening.
Ted was preceded in death by a wife, Susan “Sue” (Crandell) Gillam Leach; his parents, Lorin and Vera (Lilves) Leach; and a grandson.
Ted is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Rand) Leach; seven children, Wesley (Valerie) Leach, Debra (Gus) Jernigan, Christon Watson, Aaron Leach, David (Anna) Gillam, Anthony James (Kathryn) Bennett and Amanda Coy (Zack) Creswell; former wife, Pam (VanDeventer) Reed; 23 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 pm Monday, March 15, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.
Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 16, in the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Military honors will be provided by VFW 360/American Legion 161 Burial Squad.
