Timothy A. Bottorff, 57, of South Bend, passed away Saturday evening, April 6, 2013, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Tim was born January 27, 1956 in Jackson, Michigan, a son of the late Joseph and Marcella (Hatch) Bottorff. He grew up in Mishawaka and graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1974.
Tim was a painter and dry wall finisher with the Painters Union. Much of his work over the years was at the University of Notre Dame and area schools. Tim was a people person with a great sense of humor and was considered a jokester. His family liked Snipe hunting and he enjoyed collecting snow angels. Tim enjoyed fishing, camping, canoeing, refinishing antiques and working at craft shows. He also loved animals. His family fondly remembers his favorite saying: “get off the front pornch.â€
Tim’s surviving family includes his companion and mate of many years, Evon (Hughes) Vitale; a son, Justin M. Bottorff Elliott; Evon’s children who loved him very much, Matthew (Trasie) Vitale, Patrick Vitale and Jessica (Mark) Vitale as well as Evon’s seven grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Dr. Douglas (Margaret Finefrock) Bottorff, Stephen Bottorff, Diana King, Deborah Kling, Veneranda (Brian) Bogaert, Neil (Tina) Bottorff and Karen (Al) Harris; an aunt and an uncle; and many nieces and nephews.
Tim was a loving provider and considered it an honor to care for Evon and her mother, Doris Hughes.
Besides his parents, Tim was preceded in death by a brother, William Bottorff.
Following Tim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Private graveside services will be held.
Friends are invited to gather with Tim’s family for a time of celebrating his life on Thursday from 2 - 6 pm at American Legion #308 on Lincolnway in Osceola. Friends are welcome to bring a dish of food to pass.
Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
